Hello and welcome to my site.

I’m Clive and the aim of this site is to share with you my experiences of maintaining and running an historic vehicle.

Having  severed my apprenticeship at a Ford dealership in the early 1970’s working on Cortinas, Capris, Escorts etc I  have had a soft spot for them ever since.  My working life took me away from the workshop and the spanners but, having recently retired, I decided it was time to renew the acquaintance,  both with the cars and my spanners,  the spanners having nestled undisturbed for the last 30 years in the shed.

My car is a Ford Cortina 2000 XL Estate and is un-restored and fundamentally original having covered only 69000 miles. It is roadworthy and in regular use, and has been shown once in a local show where it was the only Cortina present. It attracted quite a bit of interest and  lot of  comments such as ‘my dad had one of those when I was little!’.  I have all the MOT’s, original bill of sale, brochures etc and have concluded the mileage as correct.

Until this year it had spent all its life in the London/Kent area and was entered in the Bromley Motor Pageant a number of times in the 90’s

It is a rolling restoration and my hope is to continue to improve it, use it and show it regularly around Yorkshire where it now lives.
